CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Sept. 22, 2021) – Contra Costa County Public Works begins construction of the Kirker Pass Road Safety Improvements Project on Monday, Sept. 27.

The work takes place along a 3.1-mile segment of Kirker Pass Road between Concord and Pittsburg, in unincorporated Contra Costa County.

Construction will last until Tuesday, January 25, 2022, barring unforeseen circumstances. Work will occur between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

Electronic message boards will alert drivers of scheduled roadwork and lane closures. Restrictions will be in place to minimize impacts during commute hours. Drivers should expect delays.

Safety improvements include installation of guardrails and installing reflectors to the existing median barrier. They will also paint the existing curb with reflective paint and place delineators along the road shoulder, as well as install street lighting at the two Hess Road intersections.

Funding for this project is provided by gas tax (SB1) and Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funds. For more information about this project visit http://www.cccounty.us/pwdmap.
