4th of July parade part of Clayton’s busy summer

CLAYTON, CA (July 4, 2022) — Contra Costa County’s smallest city came out in a big way for its 4th of July parade Monday. With a theme of “Stronger together” the whole community worked to make the parade a good time for all.

There was no shortage of red, white and blue among the parade entries. From the kiddie parade on bikes and scooters to the old-fashioned cars, American flags flashed their colors those lining the streets. City council members joined the parade. Uncle Sam (or rather councilmember Cw Wolfe) emceed the event. It was a real dog and pony show, that is, dogs and ponies marched as well.

Clayton’s 4th of July parade comes just over a week after the city hosted its first ever gay pride parade. And volunteers will be kept busy with the upcoming BBQ Cook Off, which happens July 9-10. In addition, the Concerts in The Grove happen every other Saturday night through Sept.  (Photos by Tamara Steiner)
