19th Amendment party in Concord honors women’s voting rights

19th Amendment party in ConcordHow much do you know about the 19th Amendment and how we got it? Passed on Aug. 18, 1920, this amendment to the U.S. Constitution made it illegal to deny women the right to vote.

The League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley will host a 19th Amendment party on Saturday, August 24, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Concord Library, 3900 Salvio Street, Concord, CA.

Educator Shawn Gilbert will share a brief history of the suffrage movement focusing on the diverse group of women who fought for over 70 years to improve women’s rights and gain the right to vote.

Celebrate these remarkable activists with us as we “Look back so we can move forward.”

Share your stories about how women’s suffrage impacted the generations before us and your thoughts on how women can change the future.

Celebratory refreshments and fun to follow Shawn Gilbert’s presentation.

All are welcome and invited to join this FREE event.
