1930s folk songs of Contra Costa immigrants come to life at Concord museum event

CONCORD, CA (Jan. 9, 2025) — During the Depression in the 1930s, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) was formed to put people to work. One of those projects was to record folk songs of the immigrants here in Contra Costa County.

The Concord Historical Society brings those tunes to life in the Concord Museum and Event Center (the former Masonic Hall) in February. Hear the original recording followed by a live performance of the folk song. The event includes light refreshments.  Purchase tickets through Eventbrite.
