Concord introduces emergency program for home-bound seniors

The City of Concord, CA, on Saturday announced a new program called the “Senior Emergency Food & Helping Hand Program” in an effort to support Concord residents who are home-bound seniors over the age of 60 with food insecurities.

“Taking care of our neighbors is how we will get through these uncertain times as a community,” said Concord Mayor Tim McGallian. “The Senior Emergency Food and Helping Hand Program facilitated through Neighbor Express shows that Concord cares.”

The City, in partnership with Meals on Wheels Diablo Region and Mt. Diablo Unified School District’s Food Services, will coordinate the delivery of ready-to-heat meals as well as match seniors with volunteers who can assist with needs such as pick-ups at the grocery, hardware, or pet store.

The program is scheduled to run from Monday, March 23 through Tuesday, April 7.
