Clayton teachers hold parade to remind students they are thinking of them

If you were in Clayton, CA, on Wednesday, you might have heard a lot of honking horns and shouting. It wasn’t a traffic jam. Mt. Diablo Elementary School teachers, led by police escort traded waves and smiles with residents and students as they drove through every neighborhood in town.

Families stood on the streets, careful to keep a social distance, to show appreciation back to the teachers. Most students at the school have not seen their teachers in person since the schools in Contra Costa County were shut down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Onlookers called the display both heartwarming and inspiring. (Photos from the City of Clayton)
