How to discard your Christmas tree in Contra Costa

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY—Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery will be picking up discarded trees this month. Here’s how to prepare your tree.

At the curb: Please place your Christmas tree (free of lights, ornaments, tinsel and stand) curbside on your yard waste pickup day and they will recycle it at no additional charge.

If your tree is longer than 3 feet, please cut it in half. The trucks cannot pick-up trees larger than 3 feet. Flocked trees cannot be recycled and must be serviced as garbage. Please contact MDRR to schedule pickup.

Drop-off: You can also take your tree to Contra Costa Waste Services (also knowns as RCTS) located at 1300 Loveridge Road in Pittsburg for no charge. Limit one (1) per vehicle.

Please visit www.mdrr.com for hours of operation.
