National Night Out
Concord: 5-7 p.m. Aug. 5, Concord Library, 2900 Salvio St. Live music, demonstrations by the police’s K-9 unit and the library’s Rolling Reader, crafts for kids, plus the Let’s Roll Parade, where kids decorate their wheels 5-6 p.m., followed by a parade.
Pleasant Hill: 6-8 p.m. Aug. 5, on the grounds of City Hall, 100 Greogory Lane. BBQ, giveaways, police drone demonstration, tours of a police car, fire truck and ambulance, bounce house and face painting, plus meet and greet with local police and fire, American Medical Response (AMR) and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Insiders: Celebrations and Holidays. This month is Disability Pride and the library is celebrating with games and activities that highlight the importance of disability awareness and community building. On July 22 1-2 p.m., learn about library resources and services available to support adults with disabilities while visiting with therapy dogs. The Insiders program is an inclusive library program designed for adults with diverse abilities and aims to enhance independence and foster a love for learning among adults with varying intellectual and developmental needs.
Wonderful Wednesdays: Exploring Space. Margaret Race, an astrobiologist with the Seti Institute, will talk to children about space, 2-2:45 p.m. July 23. Topics include current and future space missions, past exploration and whether there is life on other planets. Best for children 5 and up. Sponsored by the Clayton Community Library Foundation.
