CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (July 13, 2025) — Nothing says summer in America more than the crack of a bat, and the Jr. Giants program capitalized on that energy to pass along valuable life lessons during recent youth sessions in North Concord.

A Port Chicago history lesson: Author Dean McLeod will offer theories of secrets, spies and bombs along with other history about the forgotten town of Port Chicago during a July 27 appearance in Martinez. The former Concord resident will be discussing his book, “Port Chicago: The Rest of the Story.”
