So This Happened…Week of July 21 through 27, 2025

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (July 27, 2025) — College Park grad and three-time Olympic gold medalist Melissa Seidemann capped her career with an induction in the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame.

In giving her the honor, USA Water Polo said: “One of the most versatile players in women’s water polo history, Melissa Seidemann quickly emerged as a world-class talent – and a nightmare for opponents – thanks to her incomparable skills as a center, lockdown defensive play at two meters and deceptive touch scoring from the perimeter.”

Meanwhile, De La Salle grad Dominic Brown made a splash at the World Aquatic Championships as center forward for the American’s water polo team.

A night of community building: Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Aug. 5, when Concord, Clayton and Pleasant Hill will all be hosting activities for National Night Out. Look for displays of police and fire vehicles as well as a chance to interact with local officers – including new Clayton Police Chief Jeremy Crone. “This is an opportunity for our community to better understand how we serve the community and help keep it safe, and it is a wonderful opportunity for our officers and staff to meet our community,” Crone said.
