Second COVID booster doses available in Contra Costa for adults 50+

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Mar. 29, 2022) — Contra Costa Health Services will now offer second booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine to people 50 and older.  Adults immunocompromised by certain health conditions can also get the shot.

Availability begins Wednesday, March 30.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized second booster doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. This applies for people in these groups after at least four months have passed since their first boosters.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention now recommends a second booster dose for:

  • People 50 or older
  • People considered moderately to severely immunocompromised.

Anyone with questions about their eligibility should consult their healthcare provider.
