WALNUT CREEK, CA (June 15, 2025) — Downtown Walnut Creek came alive on Saturday, June 14, as an estimated 5000 residents and visitors from across the Bay Area gathered for a local installment of the national No Kings Day protest.

The Broadway Plaza courtyard where speakers gave remarks quickly filled up and many could not get close enough to hear the messages. Overflow protestors gathered along the surrounding sidewalks to wave signs and cheer as passing cars sounded their horns in support.

Organizers scheduled the event to coincide with President Trump’s 79th birthday and a concurrent military parade in Washington, D.C.

Despite its festive atmosphere, the protest carried a serious message. Participants held signs denouncing immigration policy rollbacks, cuts to social programs, and perceived threats to American democracy. Some read passages of the Constitution and pledged to uphold its ideals.

Protesters of all ages — from those using walkers and wheelchairs to multi-generational families — marched peacefully along Broadway Plaza, extending toward Main Street and Newell Avenue.
