PLEASANT HILL, CA (Sept. 22, 2022) — Back on September 9 at around 10:55 p.m. PHPD investigated a reported shooting in Pleasant Oaks Park.

When police arrived, several teens at the scene claimed to have been shot at by two unknown people who fled in a black sedan. Investigators recovered multiple shell casings at the scene, along with several bullets that had struck buildings and vehicles. None of the juvenile victims present were injured.

Detectives tracked down leads, helping them identify Saul Jimenez of Antioch as a suspect. Officers obtained warrants for Jimenez and his home.

On September 11, PHPD detectives and the Central County SWAT team served the warrants at Jimenez’s home. They took him into custody without incident. During a search of the residence, they recovered a firearm and the car used in the crime, along with other related evidence.

Second suspect

During the ongoing investigation, PHPD detectives identified a second shooting suspect. They obtained a search and arrest warrant for Alexander Martinez-Nacurena. Pleasant Hill detectives and the Central County SWAT team served the warrants at Martinez-Nacurena’s Pittsburg residence. They took him into custody without incident on Wednesday, Sept. 21. During a search of the residence, officers recovered a high-capacity handgun magazine, ammunition, and other related evidence.

On September 12, 2022, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office filed felony charges against Jimenez, including 4 counts of assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), and enhancements. They currently hold Jimenez at the Martinez Detention Facility and have set his bail at $680,000. Officers booked Martinez-Nacurena into the Martinez Detention Facility on Sept. 21, pending the filing of formal charges with the District Attorney’s Office.
