CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (July 23, 2025) — National Night Out (NNO) remains focused on community building, with events scheduled in Pleasant Hill, Concord and Clayton on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

The Central Contra Costa County cities will join 16,000 other communities nationwide that will bring together 38 million neighbors to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Pleasant Hill

The Pleasant Hill Police Department’s event is scheduled 6-8 p.m. on the grounds of City Hall, 100 Greogory Lane.
Alongside a BBQ will be giveaways, a police drone demonstration, a bounce house and face painting for the kids as well as tours of a police car, fire truck and ambulance.

Attendees also will have an opportunity to ask questions or just socialize with members of the police department, the local fire department, American Medical Response (AMR) and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The Concord Library, 2900 Salvio St., is the host site for the city’s annual NNO activities, where city staff, members of the Police Department and the library’s Wellness Team will be in attendance.

The event runs 5-7 p.m., featuring live music by UnConcord, demonstrations by the police’s K-9 unit and the library’s Rolling Reader. Other activities include crafts for kids and the Let’s Roll Parade, where kids decorate their wheels 5-6 p.m., followed by a parade.

In years past, Concord’s NNO activities have had a truly neighborhood flavor as hundreds of residents have turned out for festive cookouts and block parties sprouting up around the city – with Concord Police members making appearances to foster valuable connections with residents and to hear about what is happening where they live.

Clayton

The Clayton Police Department will be hosting an open house/BBQ in the City Hall courtyard, 6000 Heritage Trial, 6-8 p.m., serving hot dogs, chips and drinks.

On display will be police equipment including the department’s patrol vehicles and a new Polaris UTV. Officers also will be handing out swag.
The event will be a good time for Clayton residents to meet police staff and new Police Chief Jeremy Crone.

“This is an opportunity for our community to better understand how we serve the community and help keep it safe, and it is a wonderful opportunity for our officers and staff to meet our community,” Crone said.
