Mt. Diablo Unified School District celebrates modernization of 3 elementary schools funded by Measure J

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (August 30, 2025) — The day before this school year began Mt. Diablo Unified School District hosted the grand re-openings of three elementary schools that were renovated and modernized over the past 18 months.
MDUSD Superintendent Dr. Adam Clark and school principals of Mt. Diablo, Meadow Homes and Rio Vista elementary schools celebrated the re-opening of each school with a ceremony attended by parents and students, school and district staff, project contractors and community members.
The projects were made possible through the ongoing support of our voter-approved Measure J General Obligation Bond and “reflect our collective commitment to improving the learning environments for our students across the district,” according to a district press release.
Each campus opened over 70 years ago with Meadow Homes (1952) in Concord, Rio Vista (1954, original Riverview Middle School) in Bay Point and Mt. Diablo (1955) in Clayton are among 35 MDUSD sites built from 1949-59. Another 19 district schools opened in the 1960s.
