Local businesses are the heart of Concord community

CONCORD, CA (August 30, 2025) — As I ride through Concord and take in the incredible variety of local businesses that line our streets and fill our neighborhoods, I can’t help but smile.

These shops and organizations aren’t just open for business – they’re going above and beyond to support our community in meaningful, heartfelt ways. Whether it’s donating a portion of sales to school programs, offering raffle prizes that benefit local nonprofits, or hiring interns to mentor and guide the next generation, these businesses are consistently showing up and giving back.

As someone who runs a nonprofit, I want to say directly to these business owners and teams: “We see you – and we appreciate you.”

Whether it’s directing 10% to 20% of your sales toward youth initiatives, participating in fundraising events, or making quiet, behind-the-scenes contributions, your generosity has a real and lasting impact on the people of Concord.

I also want to thank the many businesses that support the Concord Chamber of Commerce. Your partnership enables important programs, events, and advocacy that help our city and our business community thrive.

I make it a point to support these community-minded businesses all year long. Take Rocco’s Pizza, for example – a long-standing champion of local causes, always willing to contribute to a fundraiser. Realtors like Wendy Moore and Vivian Miller are also wonderful examples of what it means to be true pillars in Concord. They not only excel in their work but give generously of their time, energy and resources.

Of course, these are just a few names that come to mind as I write. I know there are many more who deserve recognition – too many to list in a single article – but all equally valued and appreciated.

It reminds me of that funny phenomenon: when you buy a new car or a certain shirt and suddenly you start seeing the same one everywhere. Once you begin to notice businesses doing good, you start spotting them all around town.

And even if you’re not able to support them today, keep them in mind the next time you need goods or services. Your support – whether it’s a purchase, a referral or even a kind word – matters more than you know.

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to Tamara Steiner and the entire Pioneer staff. As a small business itself, this paper has been a vital part of the Concord business community for decades. From informative articles and local highlights to cost-effective advertising that helps small businesses grow, The Pioneer has done it all.

Tamara has long been a dedicated advocate for the Concord Chamber and an unwavering supporter of small business success. Your work publishing and delivering this paper each month is appreciated by so many.

The Pioneer has evolved with the times, but it remains a beloved and trusted community resource. I, like many, look forward to flipping through its pages every time a new issue arrives.

Great work – and God bless.
