Concord Police arrest armed suspect after officer-involved shooting
CONCORD, CA (Apr. 5, 2025) — A dramatic police pursuit unfolded in Concord late Thursday night. The event ended in the arrest of an armed suspect following a foot chase, an officer-involved shooting, and a coordinated search effort involving air and K9 support.
At approximately 10:11 PM, a Concord Police officer initiated a traffic stop near Clayton Road and Ellis Street. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as a 37-year-old man from Richmond, CA, fled the vehicle on foot. During the pursuit, an officer-involved shooting occurred, though no one was struck by the gunfire.
The suspect managed to temporarily evade capture and was believed to be hiding near Sutter Street and Clayton Road. In response, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office deployed a helicopter and K9 unit to assist in the search. Officers successfully located the man and took him into custody.
Police say the suspect possessed a firearm at the time of his arrest.
