Clayton ranked 10th safest midsize city in California

CLAYTON, CA (Dec. 15, 2020)—A new report on the “Safest Cities in California” ranks Clayton as the state’s 10th safest midsize city. The report comes from Advisorsmith.com, a business insurance research site.

The study analyzed violent and property crimes from 74 large cities, 294 midsize cities, and 92 small cities in the state. Researchers calculated crime scores for each city. After that, the cities were ranked to find the safest places in California.

Clayton statistics:

  • Clayton had a crime score of 14. The average of 46.8 for midsize cities between 10,000 and 100,000 residents. Clayton fell way below the average.
  • Clayton’s violent crime rate was 1 per 1000 residents. Midsize cities averaged 8.1 per 1000.
  • The city had a property crime rate of 12.5 per 1000 residents. Statewide, the average property crime rate in midsize cities was 21.3 per 1000.
