CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (August 12, 2022) — Heads up for Yellow Line riders: This Sunday, August 14, service will be reduced to only one track near the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre Station. This will allow workers enough space to safely replace damaged rail ties. Riders should expect delays of 10-15 minutes in the work area all day Sunday.

The work will replace track ties near the Pleasant Hill Station damaged during the partial derailment in June. Once replaced BART will return to normal speeds. Trains have operated at reduced speeds in this part of the system since the incident. For the safety of the work team, BART must reduce service near the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre Station to one track on the following Sundays:

  • August 14
  • September 4
  • September 25

Riders in the area should plan to add 15-20 minutes to their trips.

In October, BART will begin a series of weekend track shutdowns to complete this work. They will post those dates once plans finalize.

Riders can keep up with service impacts including the latest real-time departure information by downloading the official BART app.
