CONCORD, CA (Dec. 23, 2021) – Mike’s Auto Body came through again with its nationally known Benevolence Program, donating its 100th vehicle at a presentation at the Concord Pavilion on Dec. 15.

The entire Mike’s Auto Body family was invited to the celebration, along with the company’s business partners, as they gave away four refurbished cars.

“It has been so rewarding over the last 21 years presenting cars to deserving individuals and organizations who are working to improve their skills and become independent,” said Sal Contreras, marketing director at Mike’s Auto Body. “We always say that at Mike’s: ‘We are providing a hand up as opposed to a handout.’ The recipients are working toward making a better life for their families, and all they need is reliable transportation to make it happen.”

Helping make life a little easier

By presenting refurbished cars to deserving individuals or organizations, Mike’s brings local companies together to help make life a little easier for those less fortunate. The Benevolence Program involves insurance companies, local non-profits and the local community.

Everything is donated: the cars, parts, paint, mechanical inspections, tires and a year of insurance. The body and paint technicians also freely give their time and talents.

“We are fortunate to have the generosity of CSAA Insurance, Farmers Insurance, Enterprise Rental, Liberty Mutual/Safeco Insurance and Recycled Rides collaborating with Mike’s in presenting four refurbished cars to four deserving families,” Contreras said.

Each year, the collision repair industry comes across cars that are “written off” by either the owner or the insurance company. Often, these older vehicles just need some mechanical and body work to get them back on the road and perfectly safe to drive. The people at Mike’s strongly believe that these cars are going to waste when there are deserving people who need them.

“We are very excited to be able to give back to the area communities that have supported us for the past 49 years,” said Mike Rose, owner of Mike’s Auto Body. “After receiving hundreds of applications over the years and reading the heartbreaking stores, we only wish that we could do more. But hopefully with increased publicity of our Benevolence Program, other shops will adopt a similar program.”
