CONCORD, CA (May 31, 2025) — On May 28, a group of women from Clayton and Concord, led by Claytonian Patti Pratt, brought their energy and community spirit to Roadside 22 in Clayton Station, hosting a lively Volunteer Fair. These women meet regularly to catch up, talk politics, socialize, make crafts, and find ways to give back—and this event was a perfect example of what happens when passion meets purpose.

Thirteen local organizations came out to set up tables and connect with potential volunteers. And the community showed up in a big way—scores of residents stopped by, eager to lend a hand. Most of the non-profits picked up new volunteers, and the Clayton Business and Community Association walked away with nine new members.

Concord Mayor Carlyn Obringer and Concord Councilmember Pablo Benavente made time to attend and show their support. From Clayton, Councilmember Holly Tillman was the only elected official who came. Mayor Kim Trupiano, Councilmembers Jeff Wan, Jim Diaz and Richard Enea were all invited but didn’t respond.

Some of the organizations that participated included Concord Child Care Center, the Clayton Historical Society, Joybound, Clayton Valley Rotary, Dogs4Diabetics, and many more.

All in all, it was a feel-good day that reminded everyone what community is all about—pitching in, showing up, and making connections that matter.
