The Pioneer’s Jay Bedecarré will be the moderator for this Saturday’s Java & Jazz presentation featuring Ellen Findlay Herdegen discussing the history of the Concord Jazz Festival. Ellen worked at the first 20 Jazz Festivals starting with the inaugural event in 1969. She will share stories about the festival and musicians who performed there and display historic memorabilia. Jay was on the original administrative staff of the Concord Pavilion. He publicized and marketed every Concord Jazz Festival from 1975 through the most recent Festival in 2004.

Java and Jazz is part of the summer-long celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Concord Jazz Festival including 10 days of jazz from Aug. 1-10. Java and Jazz is from 10 a.m. –  12 noon at the Concord Historical Museum, 1928 Clayton Rd.
