Father Mihai State accepts a proclamation from Concord Mayor Carlyn Obringer designating Sept. 13-15 as “Greek Festival Days.”

As St. Demetrios Orthodox Church in Concord readied for its 41st annual festival, the mayor proclaimed Sept. 13-15 “Greek Festival Days” in the city.

Mayor Carlyn Obringer presented Father Mihai State with the proclamation at the Sept. 10 City Council meeting. The citation recognized how Greek food and wine have been a family tradition for some 4,000 years and are part of the history and culture of Greece.

Authentic, fresh and inviting Greek food and lively Greek music and dancing are hallmarks of the event hosted annually at the church along the Kirker Pass Road. About 10 percent of festival proceeds are slated to support local charities.
